Amidu Samson Tobiloba, also known as Amidu Tobiloba, is a Nigerian painter based in Lagos whose practice centers on expressive depictions of everyday human experience. Originally from Abeokuta, he trained at Yaba College of Technology and Olokun Art Studio, and is currently completing his Higher National Diploma in Painting. Since beginning his artistic journey in 2020, his work has developed through mentorship, experimentation, and reflection. Working primarily in oil and rooted in impressionistic sensibilities, Amidu is known for scenes of contemplation and quiet activity, including reading, meditation, and writing. His signature “quilted composition” technique builds tactile surfaces from layered canvas fragments, adding dimensionality to his paintings. Through this approach, Amidu Tobiloba explores emotion, presence, and the subtle beauty of ordinary life.
