Artist Profile

Anja Bamberg is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dubai whose practice has been devoted for two decades to exploring water, memory, and the traces of place. Working across large-scale painting, works on paper, and installation, she uses a reduced palette of blue to evoke the depth, light, and emotional resonance of water. Her practice is deeply connected to sustainability, incorporating reclaimed materials such as plastic, paper bags, and recycled paper, while layering and reworking canvases rather than discarding them. Her recent series Drowned Gardens of Silence explores submerged landscapes, forgotten histories, and memories shaped by water, connecting intimate experience with broader environmental and cultural narratives.
