Ayoola Ijisakin is a multidisciplinary artist from the historic city of Ile-Ife, Nigeria, whose work is deeply rooted in African philosophies, culture, and traditions. A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University with both a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts in Painting, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Teachers’ Institute, Ayoola masterfully blends realism and abstraction to explore the dynamic spirit of African identity. His innovative practice employs oil, acrylic, and mixed media, as well as recycled materials such as drink cans, plastic covers, and metal, transforming discarded objects into textured, thought-provoking artworks. Through his distinctive “crumbling technique,” Ayoola celebrates the resilience and creativity of African heritage while promoting environmental sustainability. His art serves as a powerful dialogue between tradition and modernity, inviting audiences to reflect on cultural identity, ecological consciousness, and the boundless possibilities of artistic innovation.
