Clarissa Lynn Alu, known as Art by CLA (abbreviation of her full name), is a self-taught visual artist based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. As the creator and owner of Art by CLA, she specializes in traditional pencil art, primarily realistic portraits. Driven by the encouragement of her family, especially her parents who recognized her talent from a young age, Clarissa honed her skills through practice and online learning. Her art style, which she describes as “all pencil with a splash of color,” often incorporates watercolor to enhance the emotional depth and contemporary themes in her pieces. A graduate of Pacific Adventist University and active community member through her volunteer work with the Hela Earthquake Relief Team, Clarissa’s Art by CLA is a testament to her dedication to artistic exploration and personal expression.
