Dong Xiaoqin
Artist and advocate of sustainable living based in China
Dong Xiaoqin is an artist and advocate of sustainable, nature-centred living based in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, China. After leaving a senior management career, she devoted nearly two decades to exploring a hands-on, self-sufficient lifestyle rooted in nature and traditional botanical dyeing. Her practice combines natural indigo, textile art, and upcycled materials to promote responsible consumption and a more symbiotic relationship between people and the environment. In Metamorphosis • Return to Origin (2026), she assembles discarded cotton and linen scraps into two intertwined horses, symbolising personal transformation, inner reflection, and a return to one’s source. Through her art and the Co-Living Future • Hands-on Life Alliance, Dong encourages sustainable everyday practices and a renewed connection between humans, nature, and one another.
