Edwin Adokwei Boye (b. 1997) is a Ghanaian photographer and visual artist celebrated for his Afro-surreal expressionist style under the moniker MadCreative. A self-taught artist, Boye cultivated his passion for art through extensive reading and research while studying Marketing at the University of Professional Studies, Accra. His work employs surrealism as a visual language to translate imagination into striking digital compositions that explore themes of identity, empowerment, and the future of Black existence. Through his vivid and symbolic imagery, Boye tells stories that advocate for better conditions for Black people and promote an African sci-fi aesthetic that reimagines the continent’s narratives. Each piece he creates is infused with intricate details that mirror human thoughts, emotions, and memories. Boye’s artistic vision embodies a symbol of hope—an invitation for audiences to understand the depth of the Afro-surrealism movement and its role in inspiring a more empowered and imaginative future for African and diasporic communities.
