Artist Profile
Ester Nemjó
Painter, illustrator, and animator based in Prague
Ester Nemjó (b. 1992) is a painter, illustrator, and animator based in Prague. She graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) and completed part of her studies at ENSAD in Paris. Working across painting, illustration, animation, and video, her practice is characterized by poetic storytelling, playfulness, and subtle irony. Drawing on personal experience, she creates dreamlike narratives inhabited by imaginary creatures and symbolic landscapes that explore themes of inner life, transformation, care, and motherhood. Her diploma film, The Most Important Partial Prerequisite for Success Is Getting Along with the Creatures Within Us, became a starting point for an ongoing body of work in which painting and animation intertwine to give form to intimate psychological worlds. Alongside her artistic practice, Nemjó has collaborated as an illustrator with publishing houses and has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in the Czech Republic and internationally.
