Artist Profile

Grant Davison is a ceramic artist based in London whose practice explores states of tension, transformation, and material vulnerability through porcelain. Drawing on a background in fashion, he approaches clay as a flexible, fabric-like medium, pressing, slicing, and draping it into layered sculptural forms that oscillate between the botanical and the bodily. Each work begins as a flat sheet of porcelain and evolves through a process of manipulation and collapse, resulting in structures that swell, twist, unfurl, and appear caught between growth and decay. Inspired by architectural change, the human body, and natural cycles of formation and erosion, Davison creates objects that resist containment and suggest continuous becoming. He graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Ceramics & Glass in 2025 and works from Cockpit Deptford, London.
