Artist Profile

Jane Eveshodioni Uga
Nigerian visual artist
Jane Eveshodioni Ugah (b. 2000) is a Nigerian visual artist from the rocky town of Ososo, Edo State. She holds a B.A. in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Benin, Benin City. Drawing inspiration from nature as both subject and aesthetic strategy, Ugah creates surreal figures whose essence is deeply embedded in natural landscapes, evoking themes of escape, human relationships, cultural and religious mythology, and the interconnectedness of ecosystems. Working with acrylic, oil, wax print fabric, and mixed media, she depicts bodies as fragmented rock layers—metaphors for cracks within the human psyche and the markings of lived experience on the skin. Her work conveys a sense of solitude and tranquillity, offering respite from the intensity of urban life. Ugah has participated in several group exhibitions. She lives and works in Abuja, Nigeria.
