Joanna Stawnicka is a photographer and visual artist born in Lublin, Poland, and based in Glasgow, Scotland. She uses photography to overlay physical reality with the invisible realms of inner landscapes, dreams, and individual and collective memories. With the human psyche at the heart of her interest, she is inspired by the tensions and strange encounters between inner and outer worlds. Joanna’s practice combines diaristic photography with performative and sculptural elements and raises an open-ended question of whether it belongs to truth or fiction.
