Artist Profile
Jonah Jacobs
US-based sculptor
Jonah Jacobs is an artist whose sculptural practice transforms discarded materials into intricate organic forms that challenge conventional ideas of value, beauty, and sustainability. Working primarily with upcycled cardboard, paper packaging, and other everyday waste, he creates sculptures and installations that address environmental concerns while embracing resource-conscious methods of making. A distinctive feature of his practice is the application of oatmeal and other grains, combined with fabric dyes and found materials such as sand, sawdust, plaster, and recycled textiles, producing richly textured surfaces that blur the boundaries between the natural and the manufactured. By reimagining discarded objects as complex sculptural forms, Jacobs invites viewers to reconsider their relationship to waste, materiality, and the creative potential of what is often overlooked.
