Jose Pablo Ureña (b. 1987) is a visual artist, urban sketcher and watercolorist from Costa Rica. Ureña's artistic work is a bridge between drawing and painting, experience and memory, with special attention to the physical and symbolic transformations of landscapes. Particularly, his large-format watercolors show the visible material transformation through the San José panoramas, while his drawings form a visual chronicle of the neighborhoods and popular sites of downtown San José. He has participated in international collective exhibitions in the USA, Italy, Brazil, China, Guatemala and Panama. Among them are the Bradley International Biennial, the Piedmont Region International Print Biennial and the Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial.
