Jose Ricardo Contreras Gonzalez is a Colombian artist whose practice centers on painting, while extending into photography, film, and other visual media. A graduate with a Master of Arts from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, his work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows across Colombia and Spain. Contreras Gonzalez investigates the nature of image-making through two ongoing, parallel lines of inquiry: one examining the mechanisms of representation and the dynamics of visual flow, and another exploring landscape and migration, drawing on domestic archives, literature, and field research. Currently based in Colombia, his work reflects a deep engagement with memory, perception, and the ways in which images shape our understanding of movement and place.
