Artist Profile

Kiki Jia-Qi Zhen
China-born and US-based artist
Kiki Jia-Qi Zhen (b. 1996) was born in Guangdong, China, but currently lives and works in Chicago, US. Through performance, sculpture, and site-specific installation she reflects on her experiences of immigration, trauma, memory, and story-telling. In working with materials relevant in Chinese culture, and through repetitive gestures, she highlights inter-generational complexities that arise from being a first-generation immigrant. In her work, she explores and creates a platform from which to speak as someone who is part of the Chinese diaspora in the United States.
