Artist Profile

Kimberley Burrows
Blind painter based in London
Kimberley Burrows is a blind painter and visual artist who earned her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2023, where she also served as Student President. Her practice is deeply rooted in her lived experience of blindness, using abstract expressionism to explore emotion, resilience, and sensory memory. Born with cataracts and having lost all useful vision in her early twenties, Kimberley’s artistic journey has been shaped by personal adversity and an unwavering commitment to creative expression. From her early years spent in hospital—where art became a source of comfort and control—to her bold, textured paintings today, her work challenges visual norms and offers a powerful sensory narrative. Kimberley’s art has been celebrated in both galleries and fashion, and she continues to be a vocal advocate for accessibility and representation in the arts.
