Artist Profile

Lixiao Jiang
Tibetan artist
Lixiao Jiang is a Tibetan artist born in China whose multidisciplinary practice spans fiber art, sculpture, and digital modeling to explore the intersections of identity, cultural memory, and visual language. Working with materials such as textiles, knots, masks, and woven structures, he develops a tactile and symbolic vocabulary that bridges tradition and contemporary expression. Jiang began his studies in Fiber Art at the China Academy of Art in 2019, where he focused on material-driven narratives rooted in ethnic identity. His work often reinterprets cultural systems through experimental forms, including knot-based sculptures inspired by the Incan quipu and digital or wireframe iterations of Tibetan protector deity masks, examining how meaning shifts across physical and virtual contexts. In 2024, he commenced an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in London, where he continues to investigate the relationship between materiality, technology, and cultural storytelling.
