Maja Beattie is a Bristol based artist who through the medium of paint aims to narrate and reflect her social surroundings. Since studying Fine Art at Bath Spa University and graduating in 2010 she has gone on to exhibit in commercial and group shows in Bath, Bristol and London. Maja Beattie’s work resonates from a fascination with people, culture and the human trace that interlaces cities. She uses the traditional element of oil painting to create a contempory social commentary, delighting in fashionable and sometimes badly behaved subjects. With a tongue and cheek approach she aims to convey the plights of people in their daily lives and the escapism that so closely follows.
