Artist Profile
Malak Elghuel
Libyan artist based between Dubai and London
Malak Elghuel is a Libyan artist based between Dubai and London whose multidisciplinary practice examines social change in the MENA region, with a particular focus on her home country of Libya. Grounded in a research-intensive approach, she uses time as both subject and medium—an invisible vessel for documentation and a measure of transformation—to investigate culture and human behavior during periods of radical transition. Her work is deeply informed by her experience of growing up in Libya and witnessing profound societal shifts. Malak holds a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Design from the American University of Sharjah and is an alumna of the Salama Emerging Artist Fellowship (SEAF). Through her practice, she continues to explore and critically reflect on the cultural and social transformations shaping the contemporary MENA region.
