Artist Profile

Maria Gazzola is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses drawing, ceramics, painting, and icon writing, inspired by themes of heritage, sacred art, and cultural history. Her work reflects a deep sensitivity to materiality and process, finding meaning in the intentionality of each brushstroke, the subtle play of painted light, and the tactile presence of shaped clay. Alongside her studio practice, Gazzola leads art workshops for girls, fostering creativity and artistic confidence through community engagement and education. Her works have been exhibited in student exhibitions at Langara College in 2025, as well as in various schools and private collections. Rooted in contemplation and craftsmanship, Maria Gazzola’s practice bridges devotional traditions with contemporary artistic expression, creating works that feel intimate, reflective, and quietly luminous.
