Born in Kindu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Martin Lukongo is a photographer and designer based in Goma, North Kivu province. He currently divides his life between his country and others in East Africa including Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya. Passionate about image in general, he has explored over the years photography, design, illustration, video, installation and performance. Travelling between Goma, Bukavu and Lubumbashi, Lukongo has developed an approach to photography that captures ordinary life with enhanced graphic expression to reveal the hidden struggles and victories in everyday life. He has presented his work in several group exhibitions such as in the Democratic Republic of Congo, International Film Festival CIFF Congo 2018; in 2017, Bosnia-Herzegovina, WARM Festival.
