Artist Profile

Mil Chankrim
Cambodian visual artist
Mil Chankrim is a Cambodian visual artist whose vivid, emotionally charged paintings confront the trauma of a brutal childhood and the complex path toward healing. A graduate of Phare Ponleu Selpak Visual Arts School (2013), Mil works out of Romcheik 5 Art Space in Battambang—a collective founded by four young artists who share histories of exile, child labor, and abandonment. His art channels inner turmoil into raw expression, where bold colors meet haunting themes of lost innocence, identity, and the scars of Cambodia’s collective past. Through fantastical imagery and unflinching emotion, Mil explores the lifelong tension between the wounded child and the resilient adult within.
