Artist Profile

Myriam Maroto
Self-taught graphic artist living with autism
Myriam Maroto is a Spanish self-taught graphic artist who has been painting for as long as she can remember. Living with autism (TEA – Trastorno del Espectro Autista), Myriam uses art as a way to find calm, escape daily stressors, and release emotions that are often difficult to express through words. Painting offers her both emotional balance and creative freedom. Her work is notable for its use of unconventional and tactile techniques. She paints using ballpoint pens, creating intricate linework with oil-based ink; coffee art, using instant coffee to produce warm, earthy tones; and soft pastel, which allows her to blend vibrant colors with a delicate touch. Through these mediums, Myriam channels a unique perspective—translating inner experience into textured, expressive visual worlds.
