Nahla Darwish
Alexandrian artist
Nahla Darwish is an Alexandrian artist born in 1995 who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. She has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Luxor Symposium 13 – Agenda Exhibition; Youth Salon 32 at the Cairo Opera House; exhibitions at Mahmoud Saeed Museum and Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Adeam at Moulk Art Space (2023); Shelter (2024); Zadig Art Gallery (2024); and Cairo District at Access Art Space / Art D’Égypte (2024), among others. Her practice centers on expressing human emotions and psychological experiences through constructed scenarios that form a parallel world reflecting inner realities. She explores themes of good and evil, choice, and layered existence, often using black blocks as symbolic forms or creature-like presences representing psychological challenges. Recurring squares and cubes function as symbols of safety, erasure, and unspoken subjects, while their colors evoke childhood memories and the lasting impact of early experiences on adulthood.
