Pam Evelyn
Pam Evelyn
London-based contemporary painter
Pam Evelyn is a London-based contemporary painter whose expansive abstract canvases explore nature, the body, and the physicality of paint. Working intuitively, she creates densely layered, richly textured compositions that evolve through months of painting, scraping, erasing, and reworking. Her practice balances spontaneity with control, destruction with renewal, allowing gestures and material to accumulate into dynamic surfaces that seem almost alive. Drawing on the expressive energy of Abstract Expressionism while developing a distinctive contemporary language, Evelyn treats painting as an evolving process of discovery, often allowing the work itself to guide its direction. She holds a BFA from the Slade School of Fine Art (2019) and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2020), and received the Cass Art Prize in 2019.
