Artist Profile

Patrick Rulore (b. 1995, Johannesburg, South Africa) is a contemporary painter whose practice explores the expressive interplay of light and shadow as a means of reflecting on memory, resilience, and everyday life. A graduate of Tshwane University of Technology with a National Diploma in Fine Art (2020), he gained early recognition through the Sasol New Signatures competition, receiving the Top Painting Award in 2018 before winning the Sasol New Signatures Award in 2019 with Stage 4 Moments, a series inspired by South Africa's power outages and their impact on daily experience. Through technically accomplished figurative painting, Rulore transforms ordinary moments into contemplative studies of contrast, atmosphere, and human presence. His work is held in the collections of Sasol, Tshwane University of Technology, the University of South Africa (UNISA), and numerous private collections.
