Raluca Bararu (b. 1983) works as an artistic director to make a living and as an illustrator mostly for pleasure. Water and the aquatic element, is a recurring pattern in Bararu's work. This pattern reflects, she says, a nightmare that every human being is familiar with, between incapacity and inadequacy. In her works, Raluca Bararu always places her characters in extreme or bizarre situations. As an artistic director, the artist always thinks about the "needs" of the spectator, and through these situations and her strange characters, she pushes the viewer to reflection.
