Artist Profile
Sanae Arraqas
Self-taught visual artist from Morocco
Sanae is a self-taught visual artist born in Rabat, Morocco, and now living and working in Casablanca. While largely self-directed, she refined her practice through formal secondary and advanced collegiate training, earning multiple degrees and certificates, and developing a multidisciplinary mastery that spans painting, drawing, engraving, and installation. Influenced by notable North African artists and fueled by what she describes as a “color addiction” and an overactive imagination, Sanae uses her work to communicate ideas that energize and challenge her. Central to her practice is an exploration of the complexity of human interactions, with a particular focus on space, transition, and the ways individuals respond to social and emotional change over time. Engaging directly with problematic social issues and drawing inspiration from her travels and international exhibitions, Sanae’s work seeks to enrich the contemporary artistic landscape through multicultural and multidisciplinary dimensions that move toward a universal form of expression.
