Sara Gonçalves is a Portuguese artist currently based in Porto. She has been involved in the art world since a tender age because her father, José Augusto Castro, is a painter himself. She has always been overwhelmed by her father’s resilience and fearlessness. He never missed a day in his studio, and now she doesn’t either. Sara’s work intends to take the observer to dream lands and escape worlds - some hidden. Her bold use of colour pushes not so usual emotions to rush out. Deconstruction and composition are very important in Sara’s work, even to a point of illusion and a sense of discomfort which intends to make all of those worlds feel more real.
