Shirani Bolle is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor and a Sri Lankan immigrant and the union of these unlikely narratives is what shapes her work. Colour and horror. A self taught artist, Shirani works professionally as a painter, sculptor and illustrator as well as a performance artist and writer. Her perspective on the nature of reality was shaped by an upbringing in a house overshadowed by the residue of war. Her work is optimistic, grotesque and often funny. She lives on the west coast of Ireland.
