The beginning of Stella Issa’s art practice initiated at Nottingham Trent University, in which she obtained a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts. The concepts and themes explored were reflections of the changes she was experiencing at the time, like belonging, misplacement, or identity. Upon completion, she immediately commenced a Master’s Degree in Special (Inclusive) Education at the European University of Cyprus, as she wanted to further develop and enrich her knowledge on art psychotherapy, both for her practice and for the future. Since then, Stella is a practicing artist located in Cyprus, and has participated in group shows in Cyprus and the United Kingdom. Stella explores the density of the figure with the use of the “female gaze”. The human figure, mainly the body, is presented in her practice – not in its idealised form; quite the contrary.
