Yana Tymoshenko

Artist Profile

Yana Tymoshenko
Ukrainian American visual artist
Yana Tymoshenko is a Ukrainian American visual artist whose work bridges the realms of realism and imagination, merging technical precision with intuitive expression. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and now based in New York City, she has also lived in San Francisco, Atlanta, Buenos Aires, Ukraine, and Italy—experiences that have profoundly shaped her worldview and artistic voice. Working primarily in oil, colored pencil, and graphite, Yana explores themes of grief, sexuality, and destiny, allowing ideas to unfold organically through process and intuition rather than rigid planning. Her bold use of color and striking contrasts evoke both emotional depth and visual intensity, reflecting her fascination with observation and invention. A self-taught artist with supplemental training at the Florence Classical Arts Academy, Yana won first place in Teravarna’s International Juried Art Competition in 2025 and was named a finalist for Dacia Gallery’s 15th Anniversary Solo Exhibition.
