Yuan Fang
China-born visual artist based in New York
Yuan Fang (b. 1996, Shenzhen, China) is a visual artist based in New York whose painting practice explores memory, psychological states, and the experience of displacement within fast-paced urban environments. Drawing on her experiences of living between Shenzhen and New York, Fang translates feelings of alienation, change, and movement into expressive visual forms, treating speed as a physical presence within her compositions. Working primarily with acrylic, she also incorporates collage, ink, and mixed media, experimenting with layered surfaces, fragmentation, and chance. Her approach to colour responds to subjects drawn from the surrounding world, while her interest in fashion, architecture, and spatial relationships informs her visual language. She holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
