Malinda Jayasinghe Named Regional Artist of the Month for January 2025

Malinda Jayasinghe, from Gampaha, Sri Lanka, has been selected as BE OPEN Art’s Regional Artist of the Month for South Asia! This prestigious award, part of a three-month competition spanning Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, recognizes emerging artistic talent.

Twenty artists from these countries are featured each month in the BE OPEN online gallery, with the Regional Artist of the Month chosen by public vote. Jayasinghe’s work, exploring themes of religious, racial, and gender privilege through diverse media and unconventional materials, clearly resonated with viewers.

At the end of the three-month period, one of these monthly winners will be declared the overall Regional Artist, based on public and BE OPEN community votes, and receive a €500 prize.
