A California-based artist, Joey creates vivid acrylic paintings that explore the beauty and complexity of vision loss. After losing her sight due to Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), she began using art to express how she perceives the world — filled with moving neon dots and blurred forms. Her work, marked by bright colors, expressive brushwork, and tactile techniques, captures her unique visual experience and challenges conventional ideas of perception.
Her recognition marks another milestone in ART LIMITLESS, BE OPEN Art’s initiative celebrating inclusivity and sustainability in the creative industries. As the October winner, Joey now joins the running for the €1,000 grand prize, to be awarded later this year.
