BE OPEN Art is pleased to announce Megan Weeda as the Artist of the Month for June 2026. A figurative oil painter from Dayton, USA, Weeda’s practice explores the relationship between memory, perception, and visual reconstruction, transforming personal experience into emotionally resonant works.
Weeda earned her BFA from the University of Dayton and is currently an MFA candidate at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, graduating in 2025. Working from her lived experience of aphantasia, the inability to form mental images, she uses painting as a way of translating non-visual memory into visual form.
Each month, BE OPEN Art presents 20 artists for public voting, with monthly winners advancing to compete for the Artist of the Year 2026 title. The overall winner will receive a €1,000 prize and promotional support from BE OPEN Art.
