This September, Akindele John’s paintings, which pay tribute to his African-Nigerian identity and express gratitude for Black feminine representation in African society, resonated deeply with voters, earning him the majority of votes.
Akindele John started his artistic journey by experimenting with charcoal and liquid acrylics. This exploration revealed to him that figurative paintings deepen our understanding of ourselves as creative, interactive individuals. He held his first solo exhibition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US.
