BE OPEN Art Limitless June 2026 Winner: Ana Montoya

BE OPEN Art Limitless June 2026 Winner: Ana Montoya

The Art Limitless programme within the BE OPEN Art online gallery has announced Ana Montoya as the June 2026 monthly winner, recognising her richly layered collage works that draw on textile traditions, cultural memory, and the enduring relationship between craft and contemporary art.

A Colombian artist based in Marseille, Montoya’s practice is rooted in a lifelong engagement with nature and handmade traditions. Raised in the rural Andes of Colombia, she studied anthropology before working with Indigenous communities in the Amazon, where she developed a profound appreciation for textile crafts and their cultural significance. After relocating to New York, she studied weaving and immersed herself in fiber art, later continuing her textile education in Barcelona. Her practice has since evolved toward collage, using layered materials and tactile processes to explore themes of migration, identity, memory, and cultural connection while reflecting the dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic expression.

Throughout 2026, BE OPEN continues to highlight artists whose work reflects sustainable approaches to artistic practice. Each month, a winning artist is selected and featured in the online gallery, and at the end of the year, three artists will be chosen from the monthly winners by members of the BE OPEN community to receive monetary awards and increased international visibility from the BE OPEN Foundation.

We warmly congratulate Ana Montoya on this achievement.
