BE OPEN Art is pleased to announce Cristiano Mangovo as the Artist of the Month for July 2026. An Angolan multidisciplinary artist, Mangovo’s practice explores the intersections of personal experience, social observation, and political consciousness, creating powerful works that reflect on the complexities of contemporary African societies.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa, where he earned a BA in Fine Art, Mangovo has also pursued training in performance and urban scenography, influences that enrich the narrative and spatial dimensions of his work. Through painting, installation, and mixed-media practices, he investigates themes of power, inequality, migration, memory, and identity, combining vivid visual language with critical reflection on both local realities and global issues.
Each month, BE OPEN Art presents 20 artists for public voting, with monthly winners advancing to compete for the Artist of the Year 2026 title. The overall winner will receive a €1,000 prize and promotional support from BE OPEN Art.
